How our products are developed and made

Updated: Oct 10, 2023

If it nourishes, protects, or cleanses the skin, it can be labelled a cosmetic product. In our factory in Beverwijk (Holland), we create natural cosmetics from scratch. We are one of the few factories that don't harm but charm the environment. The ingredients we put in our products are essential, but ingredients trust and transparency are fundamental ingredients to a successful collaboration. These elements are all embedded in our production process. Your product is in safe hands with us. In this article, we will tell and show you what this process looks like. Because what should you expect if you want us to produce your product?

Two stages

Our process is divided into approximately two stages. These stages are development and production. We will now go through these stages, step by step.

Development

First of all, it is important to meet the customer and discuss the products' requirements to know what to include in the development of the product. For example, we discuss what kind of product it should be, how it is packed, claims, certifications, possible ingredients etc. Determining which packaging should be used and what the qualities must be is a step in this very important process. In what way the product eventually will be used is crucial to know.

If the customer has any wishes for specific ingredients, raw materials or fragrances, these must be sourced. After discussing this, it is time for us to determine whether we agree or not. If we agree with the customer's requests, we prepare an offer to develop a cosmetic product. The question to the customer is whether he agrees with this. After this intake procedure, it is finally time to get to the development process! This means that we are now really going to think about the formula of the customer's product. Which ingredients are best, and what will the balance between the ingredients be? It is an accurate work that involves a lot of trial and error. We must constantly test the product, but certainly also by the customer. This provides feedback about the product several times throughout the development process, after which we will focus on making the product even better.

After all of the samples, it is time for the customer to decide whether this is the desired product or not. If the customer agrees, it is time to run compatibility and stability tests. If the tests are completed successfully, it is time to finalize the Product Information File and register the product at CPNP.

Production

While the product needs to look good, it must also meet our sustainability requirements. Glass, cardboard and tin are some of the materials we use for our packaging. The artwork is made, the material is chosen, the dimensions are determined, et cetera. When all of this is correct, the production of the packaging starts. When the final packaging is determined, designed, and we know when this is going to be delivered, it is finally time to begin the most exciting part of the production process. The production test is made and reported. If this runs smoothly and without any errors, we start the first production by mixing all the big kettles' ingredients. After it is mixed to a smooth mass, we pour it into the packaging, cool it at the right temperature and after this is finished, we end up with an excellent solid product that is ready to be packed and shipped to our customer.

After all these stages, the production process of a new product is completed. We hope that our customer is happy and satisfied with the result. Because when our customers are happy, we are happy as well!
